“American Girl” is a song written by Bonnie McKee for Justin Bieber.
Background[]
Bonnie first started the idea at Pulse Studios in Silver Lake with her boyfriend, Oliver, and friend, Jon Asher. It was originally supposed to be for Justin Bieber, but nobody bit. She always thought it was special, so several years later when she went to work with Jacknife Lee, Bonnie recycled the original idea and rewrote the verses, and pretty much everything but that first line “American Girl.”[1]
Bonnie McKee showed the original demo on TikTok.[2]

Lyrics[]
[Verse 1]
Girl you're walking down the street and
I saw you coming
All the boys were running to you
Oh you're looking so sweet with feathers in your hair
And American Apparel
[Pre-Chorus]
Let's go tonight
We can do anything, anything
And sparks will fly
You'll be my everything, everything, baby
Feels so free, holding each other
You and me, moving to the beat
'Cause we were meant to be
I see it from the stars in your eyes
[Chorus]
You're my all American girl
A-A-A all American girl
You're my all American girl
A-A-A all American girl
[Verse 2]
Yeah you're shining so bright
You're just like New York City
The way you look so pretty
And oh you get me so hot
I feel like we're in Texas
The way that we've been texting
