Cupid is an upcoming animated movie by Mythos Studios featuring Justin Bieber as main voice actor.
Background[]
In 2018, The New York Times reported that Scooter Braun parterned with David Maisel to launch Mythos Studios, which acquired half of Aspen Comics. With Mythos Studios, Braun will provide a potential pipeline for talent (and soundtracks). When asked if Justin Bieber could be a superhero, Scooter said the following: “There will be synergies. If any of the talent we work with wants to be a part of the projects we’re doing, we welcome them to join us on this journey. I’ve already had conversations with certain talent that are very excited about being a part of this.”[1]
“When this project was brought to Justin, he instantly was excited to be a part of it. Fortunately for us, like Cupid, he knows a little bit about love and mischief,” said Mythos Studios co-founder Braun.[2]
Pre-production[]
In June 2018, Justin Bieber shared the first concept art of the movie on Instagram. On October 24, 2019, Variety confirmed that Pete Candeland would be the director and Carlos Kotkin the writer of the movie. [3] Deadline announced Michael Gracey as executive producer and Mike Vukadinovich as writer.[4]
In May 2023, Hollywood Reporter claimed that the film is still in development by David Maisel.[5]
Plot[]
An animated story of Cupid, the legendary winged God of Love from classical mythology. The narrative tells of Cupid and his love interest Psyche. Psyche, still uncast, is human royalty whose beauty intimidates Cupid’s mom Aphrodite.[3]
