Transcript[edit | edit source]

Jenny Matthews: Jenny Matthews, Dave O backstage. Justin Bieber, what's going on?

Justin Bieber: What's happening?

Justin Bieber: Hi.

Jenny Matthews: Okay I just have to say it and you are going to be like rolling your eyes at me but you are the cutest.

Justin Bieber: Thank you. [laughs]

Jenny Matthews: Dave O was just gonna say that

Dave O: Yeah I was thinking the exact same thing. Now this guy, what was it like having Justin Timberlake and Usher battling over you. That had to be tough right?

Justin Bieber: It was awesome. It was really crazy. Just basically really surreal.

Jenny Matthews: How did it all happen though? Where did this song come from 'cause you're fifteen, is that right?

Justin Bieber: Yeah.

Jenny Matthews: You know most people at fifteen they go to school (?) whatever.

Justin Bieber: It started on YouTube. I was in a singing competition in Stratford, Ontario, Canada and my friends and family that couldn't be there wanted to see me so my mother and I posted videos on YouTube for my friends and family. All these other people started viewing them and subscribing and pretty soon I got up to a million views and now I'm up to like 38 million views.

Jenny Matthews: Get outta here.

Justin Bieber: Yeah.

Jenny Matthews: Was this just something that you'd like practise in your room at home.

Justin Bieber: Yeah. I didn't really take any of this seriously.

Dave O: Jenny now you say, you know he's a cute guy and everyone seems to say that but you realise this kid is aggressive on ice. He's a hockey player (?) up there in Canada…

Jenny Matthews: Get outta here.

Dave O: … and he lives on a traveling team. Yeah

Justin Bieber: Yeah.

Dave O: And he still has all his teeth too as you can see.

Jenny Matthews: I Know.

Dave O: You can't see on the radio but he's smiling right now.

Justin Bieber: [laughs]

Dave O: He's got all his teeth right there.

Jenny Matthews: So is this, just blow you mind that you know, fame has come upon you and this is literally something that you were…

Justin Bieber: Yeah it's very incredible and I really look forward to my future.

Jenny Matthews: Who is somebody cool that you met so far that kinda…

Justin Bieber: I met a lot of people. It's kinda cool to have Usher mentoring me right now.

Jenny Matthews: Yeah!

Justin Bieber: So that's a cool person I get to hang out.

Jenny Matthews: I would say so!

Dave O: Who are you most excited to see tonight here at Red White & Boom.

Justin Bieber: I'm most excited to see The Veronicas.

Dave O: Everyone seems to like The Veronicas.

Jenny Matthews: Yeah.

Dave O: And you enjoy your stay here in KC or at the Great Wolf Lodge (?).

Justin Bieber: Yes, having a good time.

Jenny Matthews: Did I hear you say on the air, you were on with Steve Serrano yesterday…

Justin Bieber: Yeah.

Jenny Matthews: … that you have background dancers.

Justin Bieber: Yeah.

Jenny Matthews: (?) gonna do some of that today?

Justin Bieber: Yeah.

Jenny Matthews: Okay. I'm excited.

Justin Bieber: They're here.

Jenny Matthews: Well can I join? I'm in, hello!

Justin Bieber: Of course you can.

Dave O: In those shoes?

Jenny Matthews: Have you seen me dance?

Justin Bieber: You wanna hop on the drumset too?

Jenny Matthews: Yeah heck yeah. It's on. It was really nice to meet you.

Justin Bieber: Nice to meet you too.

Jenny Matthews: I wish you all the luck in the world.

Justin Bieber: Thank you very much.

Jenny Matthews: This is exciting for you.

Justin Bieber: Thank you.

Jenny Matthews: Justin Bieber, we're backstage with Mix 93.3.
