In early 2011, Rodney Jerkins got a call from [Chairman and CEO of Island Def Jam and Universal Motown Republic Group] Barry Weiss asking, “Do you have anything for Justin Bieber?” He was then working on something to submit.[2]
Rodney Jerkins would show Justin Bieber an hour-long video of Michael [Jackson] footage before he would go in the booth. "So me seeing that, going in there and being inspired and working with Rodney, who worked with Michael -- it was incredible," Bieber revealed during MTV's Bieber Live.[3]
