The Next Star was a Canadian reality television show on YTV. The show is a competition to find the most talented singer in Canada who is aged 15 years or younger to win and become "the next star".

Brock: I think Wren likes Justin Bieber a lot.
Adam: Here.
Justin Bieber: Oh, is this for me?
Adam: Take a load off. Chill out.
Justin Bieber: Alright.
Adam: We're gonna hang with the kids. Alright so we're so lucky to have Justin here, and he's gonna give us a few pointers about being a young artist in this industry.
Justin Bieber: Alright. So first of all, you guys have just gotta make sure you gotta stay grounded, make sure you have great people surrounding you.
Wren: I'm Wren. I was just wondering if you had any good tips on making, like, a great first impression.
Justin Bieber: Just being yourself, like, really is just great.
Wren: It's overwhelming. I just have to— Whew. I'm winded.
Justin Bieber: And also make sure you smile a lot, that's defintely great. [laugsh]
Brock: And that's always good. I mean, a smile sells.
Justin Bieber: Anybody else have questions?
Brock: [raises hand]
Justin Bieber: What's up?
Brock: I'm Brock. I was wondering what it's like working with Usher.
Justin Bieber: Working with Usher's definitely amazing. Like, just having him in the studio to help - help guide me and help teach me different stuff - it's just a bonus to have him around.
Lizz: I've probably watched you on YouTube only, like, a million times, and I love all your songs and stuff. Do you wanna play us one?
Justin Bieber: Sure. That would be awesome, guys. [grabs guitar] Let's do it. Alright, so… This song is called "One Time" [plays One Time on acoustic guitar]
Kids: [applauding]
Adam: Thanks, dude. Great job.
Justin Bieber: Thank you very much for your having me.
Adam: Thanks for your advice. Appreciate it. Let's hear it again, Justin.

Justin: The kids seem like a great bunch of kids. They have great peresonalities; they showcase themselves very well. And it's gonna be very fun to see what they have to offer, see what they can throw up to the table. So I'm very excited.

The September 27 finale, from International Showplace at Canada's Wonderland, featured performances by FeFe Dobson and Justin Bieber, who had recently earned his first hit with "One Time", but not yet released an album. Justin Bieber received a plaque for One Time after performing.
