Kanye West is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer. He is the founder of the record label GOOD Music and creative content company DONDA. He is one of the most acclaimed musicians of the 21st century, and has attracted both praise and criticism for his work and his controversial, outspoken public persona.

Relationship

Bieber was the first person that Kanye followed once he joined Twitter in July 2010. The two went on to form a relationship over the social networking site and eventually recorded a song together, a remix of “Runaway Love” along with Wu-Tang Clan rapper Raekwon.

While talking with XXL Mag for the July/August 2011 issue, Justin had nothing but compliments for Kanye West. “I got to be in the studio with him and work with him and see how he works and talk to him—and talk to him as a friend, and not like someone [in] business,” Bieber said. “He’s not really an asshole like everyone makes him out to be. I mean, he can, he can do bad things, but he’s really generally a good guy.” “He can make bad decisions, you know, as well as everyone can,” he added, “but generally I think he is a good guy.”

In 2012 Justin hit the studio again with Kanye. Bieber told MTV what it's like to record with Kanye. "Basically, he was just talking about going out of the box and doing things that are different," he continued. "And he's like, 'I want to just make you cool.' He wants to just basically do records that people wouldn't necessarily think I would do." He added that West was incredibly kind to him while they worked together, never criticizing him, but instead giving him lots of props. "He never gave me advice on my rapping, but every rap record that I played him, he's like, 'Yo, that's your best one!' He's never said, 'I don't like that.' He's always been super supportive."

In 2015, Justin spoke to NME about Kanye West. “Out of anyone in the industry who is creative, he really gets me. His advice is always just, ‘Make music that’s so good people can’t hate on it.'” Bieber added: “I didn’t wanna bore him or waste his time. So I was like, ‘Can I play you these songs?’ and he was like, ‘I wanna hear everything.’ To hear him say that, it just showed that he cared.”

"Kanye’s a talker. You get him in a room and he starts talking and ranting, I just sit and I listen. He’s been through a lot of stuff and he’s not just talking to talk, he has something to say from his heart," said Justin. "I just sit and listen because he’s really smart."

Kim Kardashian arranged a private celebrity-filled basketball match for husband Kanye West's birthday. Portland Trail Blazers forward Dorell Wright told TMZ that it was between rapper Tyga and Bieber for the game's MVP honors. "Bieber was showin' out," Wright said. "He definitely had the most points. It was between him and Tyga."

One week after Kanye shared thatWhat Do You Mean? was his favorite song of 2015, he came out to support Justin Bieber, appearing at his Purpose World Tour concert in Los Angeles along with Kim Kardashian. After wrapping the concert, Justin expressed his gratitude on social media. "Shout out to one of my inspirations @kanyewest for coming to the show tonight," he tweeted. "Had to go big. #PurposeTourLosAngeles night 2."

In August 2016, Justin posted a photo to Instagram of himself FaceTiming with Kanye with the caption "Taylor swift what up".

In May 2018 Justin Bieber reacted to Kanye West, who suggested slavery in America was “a choice” by posting on his Instagram story: “Our job is to love not to always agree!” and added: “Love you Kanye!”

"The most innovative artist performing today, or just being creative, I think is probably Kanye," Justin said in the Calvin Klein BTS video. "I think he's got such a good eye for artistic expression, artistic view. And I just think he's overall awesome."

In August 2020, Justin Bieber visited Kanye West in Wyoming amid concerns for the rapper’s mental health. "he told Kanye that he needed to talk to Kim," said a source to People. "And Kanye finally texted Kim and they talked on the phone."

On 31 October 2021, Justin appeared with Roddy Ricch and Marilyn Manson at a post-Donda Sunday Service Choir performance.

On Wednesday, June 8, which is Ye's birthday, Justin posted about him on his Instagram grid. "Happy birthday @kanyewest," Bieber captioned his post. "Your art has moved me in ways noone elses has. Your taste and style has helped shape the artist I am today. Thank you for inspiring me to be confident in the things I want to create."He also thanked the rapper for his "public adoration of Jesus," which is a topic that Bieber is also passionate and outspoken about as something that's been helpful in his life. The post was later removed.

In October 2022, Hailey Bieber shared her support for Vogue contributing editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson after she was mocked by Ye for criticizing his controversial YZY SZN 9 runway show. Ye posted a screenshot of an E! News headline detailing Hailey and Gigi Hadid’s support for Gabriella while sarcastically calling out Hailey’s husband, Justin. “Wait Am I canceled again??? Justin please let me know,” he wrote. In a subsequent post, he addressed his “paradigm shifting t-shirt” and how it overshadowed everything else at Paris Fashion Week, while once again ridiculing Gabriella’s style. Ye called Hailey "nose job Hailey Baldloose" and told Justin, "Get your girl before I get mad. You spose to be my friend right," after posting an old article from 2016 about Hailey and Drake out on a date.

Sources close to Justin and Hailey told TMZ they're obviously hurt by Kanye's attacks -- especially since they were there for him in 2020 when he was going through a tough time in his life -- traveling to Wyoming to visit him at his ranch.

Bieber stated that he worked with Kanye and Rick Rubin on the album, who he says is “not really the producer, but kinda like one”, but ultimately decided the pair were an ill-fit.“He brought in a band and there were some dope vibes, but it wasn’t the music I wanna make. So I said, ‘I love you, but no thanks.'”
